Dacastello Italian Wines

D.O.C.G. - Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita - as the D.O.C. classification, but with the addition that these wines are also analysed and tested by government licensed inspectors before being bottled and sealed with a numbered seal around the cap of the bottle.

I.G.T. - Indicazione Geografica Tipica - high quality wines previously known as Super Tuscans before the classification came into being in 1992, that do not meet the requirements set by the Italian government for the D.O.C. or D.O.C.G. classification. Some I.G.T. wines are however, the very best wines made in Italy.

I.G.P. - Indicazione Geografica Protetta - The Protected geographical indication is the name of an area, a specific place or, in exceptional cases, the name of a country, used as a description of an agricultural product.

D.O.P. – Denominazione di Origine Protetta - Designation given to agricultural products whose production is carried out in a defined geographical area and whose production process is follows set specifications. These characteristics are principally or exclusively attributed to the geographical environment, including natural and human factors.
